Ellen Amirkhan and Aaron Groseclose: A Comprehensive Guide to Oriental and Specialty Rug Cleaning

Dallas 2006 (2008)

Over 900 illustrations 403 pp. 8.5 x 11 Spiralbound.

This 19 chapter book is the first of its kind written for the rug cleaning professional. Many books have been written on oriental rugs with an emphasis on history, structure, culture and identification with cleaning as an afterthought. Many of these authors have limited firsthand experience with the challenges of day-to-day commercial rug cleaning and repair. Of particular interest to the restoration industry, this book covers effective procedures for handling smoke damaged, sewage, mold and fungal contaminated rugs. This information is new, has not appeared elsewhere, and was written specifically for this book. Over 900 photographs, maps and drawings illustrate how to inspect and clean rugs most commonly encountered in a rug cleaning business. Drawing upon their years of cleaning, teaching, appraising, and visiting the most respected and successful companies in the country, the authors combined research with firsthand knowledge in developing the most comprehensive guide in the rug cleaning industry. The book has practical how-to steps for identifying problem rugs, inspection procedures, cleaning methods and how to set-up a rug cleaning facility. Your knowledge is the best marketing tool in building your business.

OUTSTANDING!!

Don't be dissuaded by the purchase price! If this book saves you from ruining even one Oriental rug, it will more than pay for itself. While most oriental rug books devote a paragraph, or (if you're lucky) a chapter to rug care, this book is devoted to the topic. It distills several generations' knowledge of oriental and specialty rug cleaning information, pitfalls, tips & tricks into a handy reference guide that every rug cleaner must have in their library. Quite simply, this is a 'one-stop' source of rug cleaning information that would otherwise taken tens of thousands of dollars and decades of trial & error to learn. The photos are outstanding, as is the 'flow chart' to assist one in the daunting process of learning rug identification. There is no other book even remotely close to this one. OUTSTANDING!!
