The association between William Randolph Hearst, Sr. and S. Kent Costikyan goes back to the turn of the 20th Century. The Herst-Costikyan relationship continued over the years between R. Hearst Jr. and Clarke W Costikyan. What is of historic interest is that S. Kent was a guest at the formal opening of San Simeon and Clarke was the carpet appraiser upon the Hearst family gifting San Simeon and its collection to the state of California.

The third and the fourth generation of Costikyans were called upon by the present Executive Director of the Hearst Castle, Hoyt Fields, to provide a proposal for the restoration of the Lever Kirman Carpet. | click to read more |

COSTIKYAN  >> CLEANING DEPARTMENT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dirty particles can make the silk or fibers brittle and more sensitive to damage. Washing the rug releases these particles and helps restore the fiber's dexterity and luster.
A rug responds to humidity in the environment, to light and to temperature. And, like your skin, the fibers must be cleaned cetrain way. We keep in mind the type of dirt, the type of fiber, the color fastness of the dyes, and the strength of the cleaning agents we use. Our shampoo machine deep cleans an Oriental pile rug. A tool injects a rinsing agent and extracts into a vacuum all in one step. We have customized our cleaning techniques to protect fine in-house wall-to-wall carpeting and upholstery. Our in-house service also includes cleaning of the most sensitive upholstery silk, cotton and wool fabrics by certified technicians.
